Where do I fall on the Technology Integration Matrix?

http://fcit.usf.edu/matrix/matrix.php

Above is a link to the Technology Integration Matrix.  You thought that was a movie, right?  Or a strange torture device for teachers who forget to do their transportation duty?  Incorrect! The Technology Integration Matrix is used to reflect on one's teaching practice and the degree to which one is utilizing technology to transform students' school experiences so that they become more relevant and engaging.

So, as a teacher of teachers, where am I on the Technology Integration Matrix?  I did just do my first "virtual" professional development session using gotomeeting to provide instruction and rationale for using online assessment using Schoolnet.   Let's see where that puts me...
Ah, yes, here we are, "Goal-directed Adoption" (I think).  I was directing the teachers in the procedural use of the Schoolnet assessment tools.  The assessments they create and the power of the data analysis tools, however, will allow the teachers to set goals, adjust instruction, and track student progress.

Where could I reasonably be by next grading period?  Well, there is a certain level of readiness and willingness on the part of the participants that is presumed by the higher levels of the Matrix, but certainly I can offer opportunities...

I did encourage teachers in our district to attend the Center Grove ipad conference and about 12 did. It must be said that those who attended have always been rather self-directed and don't need too much help from me to get out and learn new things!

What steps do I need to take to perform at higher levels on the Matrix?  Well, I can keep up with this 5-star technology CAKE thing... And if the tech department can find the funds to buy me that Camtasia Studio Editor I am wanting... the sky is the limit! :)

  1. Heather - keep us posted on if you get Camtasia Studio. :) I've used it a couple of times to make videos.
